Pastor Joe Rice

Picture
Joe Rice was saved in 1985 at The Door in Tempe, Arizona.  His decision was influenced by his father’s conversion while serving a sentence in San Quentin State Prison.  In 1991, he pastored his first church in Phoenix, Arizona.  In 1994, after establishing a church in Phoenix, he was sent to Auburn, Washington, to pioneer a new work.  In 1996, he felt a calling to enter into missionary work and was given the opportunity to pioneer a church in George, South Africa.  After 5 years of building a church in George, he pioneered again in Cape Town, South Africa for another 4 years.  Both of those works are still thriving to this day.  In 2005, he, along with his wife Heather and children, moved to San Diego, California, where he is currently serving The Potter's House San Diego.

Youth Director Nehemiah Negron

Picture
Nehemiah Negron was born and raised in the Clairemont Mesa congregation.  God has always taken care of him, even through the immaturity of his youth and common church kid struggle.  During the Summer of 2010, before his senior year of high school, he decided to give his all to Jesus Christ. “Who am I living for?” was the constant thought that drove this decision.  He knew the truth, but now he had to make a decision if he was going to live for the Truth or his own selfish desires.  He made up his mind to serve the Lord no matter what and finally surrendered to him with no more games, fear, or lies.  His favorite bible verse is Psalms 37:4, and since his salvation he's taken “delighting in the Lord” it to heart, and God quickly blessed him and gave him the “desires of his heart.”  In August, 2013 he got married and in March 2015 he and his wife, Bridgette, welcomed their first child, Lorraine.  They enjoy serving the church and are excited to see all that God will do in their lives.

Evangelist Herman Brooks

Picture
Herman Brooks, in his own words, states that he was a fool for both himself and the world.  Born in a small town in Southwestern Tennessee, he was very insecure in his early years with no direction and that was a breeding ground for a reckless lifestyle.  He began drinking and smoking at 18 years old and decided to join the US Marine Corps.  While being stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, he gave his life to Jesus Christ in the spring of 1982. His life has never been the same.  While serving in the military, he spent a period of time in the Yuma, Arizona, congregation and ended up transferring to San Diego, California, where he began attending the Clairemont Mesa church.  In May 2008, he, along with his wife Janice and daughter, responded to God's calling to pioneer a new church in El Cajon, California.  He spent 6 years building the El Cajon congregation then returned to the Clairemont Mesa church in May 2014 to help support the congregation by any and all means.  In May 2017, he responded to the call to evangelize.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31
Being a Fool for Jesus

26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, 29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. 30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— 31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

2 Timothy 4:5
Do the Work of an Evangelist

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry
